I'd open it up and look inside. I wouldn't trust an "unopened" monster box from anyone, except maybe the US Mint.

you rright 96 has the low mintage #;s & 06,02,87 are the high ones. My rational albeit crazy maybe was since 06' is the 20th aniv year, burnished unc & rev proof there maybe some spillover to the plain 06 ones.
